THE WATER: LIVING THE LIFE WE DECLARED"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>\u201cTherefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him.\u201d<\/em><br>\u2014 <strong>Colossians 2:6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We make a big deal about taking water baptism.<br>We prepare for it, pray for it, and celebrate it with songs, photos, and testimonies.<br>But after the water dries and the applause fades, something often goes quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We stop making a big deal about what comes after \u2014 <strong>showing up, staying connected, and growing together in faith.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BAPTISM IS THE BEGINNING, NOT THE FINISH LINE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Too often, we treat baptism like a finish line \u2014 as if that one act proves our faith or completes our Christian duty.<br>But baptism was never meant to be the end of the journey; it\u2019s the <strong>beginning of a new life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s like planting a seed: it\u2019s beautiful and full of promise, but if we stop watering it, it won\u2019t grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our baptism should not just be a memory of commitment but a <strong>daily reminder<\/strong> to live out that commitment \u2014 in worship, in fellowship, and in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WE ALL SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s easy to say, <em>\u201cThe church doesn\u2019t follow up,\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cNo one cares after baptism.\u201d<\/em><br>But if we are the church, then we are part of that responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We can reach out to new believers and ask, <em>\u201cHow\u2019s your walk with God going?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We can show up even when it feels routine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We can be that steady friend who listens, prays, and encourages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We can model what spiritual growth looks like through faithfulness and humility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Discipleship isn\u2019t just the pastor\u2019s job \u2014 it\u2019s everyone\u2019s calling.<br>Growth happens when we walk together, not when we wait for someone else to make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LET\u2019S NOT LOSE THE WONDER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe we\u2019ve grown used to the ceremony of baptism and forgotten its meaning.<br>Each time someone steps into the water, it\u2019s not just a tradition \u2014 it\u2019s a <strong>resurrection moment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the public declaration:<br><strong>\u201cI\u2019ve decided to follow Jesus \u2014 no turning back.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That kind of decision deserves not only a celebration but also <strong>continued companionship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If heaven rejoices when one soul turns to Christ, shouldn\u2019t we keep rejoicing \u2014 and walking with them \u2014 afterward?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FROM EVENT TO EVERYDAY FAITH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can\u2019t stop at the water\u2019s edge.<br>Faith grows when we keep showing up \u2014 when we worship, serve, learn, and live accountable to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we stay connected in community, we remind each other why we were baptized in the first place: <strong>to follow Jesus, together<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So instead of saying, <em>\u201cThe church forgot about us after baptism,\u201d<\/em><br>let\u2019s start saying,<br><strong>\u201cWe will not forget to live what baptism means.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A CLOSING THOUGHT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baptism is not just a declaration of faith \u2014 it\u2019s an invitation to a <strong>lifelong journey<\/strong>.<br>Let\u2019s make as much noise about living faithfully as we did about getting baptized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the water may dry,<br><strong>but the call to follow never
